![]() ![]() ![]() I feel we have reached the point in which almost all questions were answered and the dramatic story has come to a close. Most of the plot twists were a little obvious, but there were still some real shockers! So, as much as it frustrates me, Tate James The Queen of Plot Twists and Cliffhangers remains unchallenged. ![]() It is a set up for the next series of hers that takes place in the same town, but from Hades’ perspective. There were several parts that were really good, but some that just took too long.Īnd I hate to say it, but we did actually leave off with a plot twist (as much as Tate James refrains from calling it that). It just seemed like a lot of filler and overdramatized plot to build up for this ending with a reveal that wasn’t as big as I expected. This book was pretty interesting and full of plot, but I just didn’t really care for it. ![]() How will this all end? Will we find the Stalker and Killer before they find MK? How will the dynamic work between the four of them? Will MK be forced to choose? This is officially the last of the Madison Kate Series. This book is a quick read full of plenty of romance, smut, violence, gang wars, death, and SO MUCH MORE. A steamy and exciting conclusion to MK and her guys’ stories.Īfter an explosion of an ending in Fake, we begin this book wondering what happened to Steele. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() From the moment Dionisio Vivo and Ramón "Cochinillo" Dario attend to the cravate corpse deposited in his garden by the coca lords, you become ensconced in the world of Ipasueño, its passions, ironies, and political intrigues, and cease to be aware of the hand of Bernières behind the scenes.ĭionisio, a professor of philosophy, writes a series of letters, published in the prestigious journal La Prensa, castigating the coca trade, and from there the story spins furiously in many directions and subplots. Louis de Bernières is a masterful writer, which is to say his command of the various crafts of writing-creating character, innovative description, telling a whopping good story-weaves a spell and sucks you into the magic. ![]() ![]() As such, his last completed work of fiction was a triumph over his critics, who had basically declared him finished as a novelist. ![]() Much like the old man in the book, Hemingway found himself looking back on his early successes while finding it ever harder to repeat them. The work of an aging author, The Old Man and the Sea focuses on the realities of growing old and the desire to remain vital and relevant. It’s the need to go to sleep at the end of a harrowing ordeal with the simple idea that tomorrow you’ll get up and try again. ![]() Survival isn’t simply a Darwinian struggle to determine the fittest, but a need to persevere despite challenges and setbacks: to rise to the occasion but also accept that events can turn a success into a failure. Stripping out the complications of modern life, Hemingway presents a story of one man’s timeless struggle both with and against the elements. ![]() The old man, his boat, the admiring boy, the sea, a few clouds, two or three fish, a few birds, the great marlin and finally the sharks – those are the ingredients of this famous novella. ![]() ![]() ![]() But, there were a few things that the story seemed to lack. The story was also interesting and kept my attention. I picked up the book because the idea of a parallel worlds always interested me, and I think the author did a good job with it. Together, Danny and Dane, with their friends ,and new friends they meet along the way, they plot to overthrow the Dictator and help the people of Britannica. Needless to say, both are very confused by the other, seeing as they are physically identical in every way except for a mole one Dane's forehead. The two boys discover a gate between their two worlds after a freak storm. ![]() The people of Britannica are oppressed and do not share the same freedoms that their sister country, Britain, has. Britannica is ruled by a Religious Dictator known as Papa Don. Dane is also a clever boy who lives in a country called Britannica that exists in a world similar to ours, yet different. Danny is a clever boy who lives in modern Britain with a pretty normal life. This book was about a great adventure that takes place in two similar worlds. ![]() ![]() ![]() But is not letting the past dictate the present always possible or even desirable? In Dara, the Lyucu leadership as well as the surviving Dandelion Court bristle with rivalries as currents of power surge and ebb and perspectives spin and shift. Beset by adversity, Thra and her most trusted companions attempt to overcome every challenge by doing the most interesting thing. She has crossed the fabled Wall of Storms with a fleet of advanced warships and ten thousand people. With the invasion of Dara complete, and the Wall of Storms breached, the world has opened to new possibilities for the gods and peoples of both empires as the sweeping saga of the award-winning Dandelion Dynasty continues in this third book of the "magnificent fantasy epic" (NPR).Princess Thra, once known as Empress na of Dara, entrusted the throne to her younger brother in order to journey to Ukyu-Gond to war with the Lyucu. ![]() ![]() I read most of the book in one afternoon, flipping the pages anxiously and shivering as a storm raged outside my own house. It's more plot-driven and faster paced with the storm acting like a character in itself, a merciless antagonist threatening Mira and her friends. Of the eight books I've read by Beth Kephart, This Is the Story of You is the most accessible to a general audience. If that weren't scary enough, a mysterious intruder is lurking outside, and without power or cellular service, Mira can't call for help. ![]() ![]() As the storm rages and the sea floods their beachside cottage, Mira must decide what to save and how to stay alive. Earlier that day, her single mom had driven her disabled brother to the mainland hospital for emergency treatment. When a storm cuts off an island from the Jersey Shore, 17-year-old Mira must fight for survival with only a stray cat for company. This is a Story of You is a modern parable of the horrors of climate change. ![]() Her evocative settings transport the reader to another world. Well-developed adult characters make her books cross over easily to grown ups too. In literary prose Kephart explores real world issues through complex characters and surreal imagery. Beth Kephart is one of my favorite young adult authors because her sophisticated writing challenges teens to think for themselves. ![]() ![]() Shikujo is Yoshifuji's wife, ashamed of her husband, yet in love with him and uncertain of her role in his world.
